Pawnee Bill played a key role in establishing a bison herd at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. This herd was featured in the 1920 silent film “The Daughter of Dawn,” which runs for 80 minutes and consists of six reels. Originally thought to be lost, the film was restored by the Oklahoma Historical Society in 2007.
